Before first use
Wash containers and lids in warm, soapy water or the dishwasher.
Do not
- Use on a stovetop, open flame, grill, or under a broiler
- Heat above 425°F (218°C)
- Cut food inside the container, or use knives or sharp utensils in it
- Clean with abrasive pads, steel wool, or harsh scouring powders
- Microwave or bake an empty container
Handling heat
Containers get hot in the oven and microwave. Use oven mitts, and let them cool before handling. Silicone is flexible when hot, so support the base with both hands or a baking sheet when carrying food.
Cleaning and stains
Silicone can pick up color or smell from foods like tomato sauce, turmeric, curry, and garlic. This is normal and doesn't affect safety or performance. To freshen containers:
- soak in warm water with baking soda, or scrub with a paste of baking soda and water;
- leave them in direct sunlight for a few hours to fade stains;
- for an oily film, wash in hot, soapy water with a degreasing dish soap.
Storage
Store containers dry, with lids loosely placed or off, to keep them fresh.
