Last updated: October 15, 2026

BYN containers and lids are made of food-grade, platinum-cured silicone. Multiple accredited independent laboratories tested them against U.S. and German food-contact standards.

What BYN is made of

  • Material: Platinum-cured silicone. Platinum curing uses no peroxide catalysts, so it leaves no peroxide by-products.
  • Color: Food-contact silicone colorants.
  • Made without: BPA and other bisphenols, phthalates, and intentionally added PFAS.

Results apply to the samples tested. FDA & LFGB do not approve or certify food-contact products; "tested to FDA & LFGB standards" means the samples met the limits in the FDA & LFGB regulations listed above.

PFAS ("forever chemicals")

BYN containers are made without intentionally added PFAS. Our manufacturer has provided supplier test reports for the silicone and colorants used in BYN products.

California AB 1200 cookware disclosure

California law requires makers of cookware, including products used to store food, to disclose any intentionally added chemicals that are on the California Department of Toxic Substances Control's Candidate Chemicals List and are present in a food-contact surface.

—

"Intentionally added" means a chemical the manufacturer added on purpose to give the product a specific characteristic, appearance, or quality.

California Proposition 65

Proposition 65 requires a warning on products that expose people in California to listed chemicals above set levels. In third-party testing, none of the Proposition 65 chemicals tested for were detected in BYN containers: BPA, the phthalates DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, and DIDP, lead, and cadmium. Based on these results, BYN products do not carry a Proposition 65 warning.
